Die Sonnstromfabrik in Wismar gehört zu den ältesten Produktionsstandorten für Solarmodule in Deutschland. Lange Zeit produzierte dort Centrosolar Solarmodule für das eigene Unternehmen, aber auch als OEM-Hersteller für TSMC, Bosch, Du Pont und Conergy. 2014 stellte Centrosolar die Modulproduktion ein, da sich der deutsche PV-Markt in einem wirtschaftlich schwierigen Umfeld bewegte. Seit April 2016 produziert die Sonnenstromfabrik wieder unter neuer Marke.

Eine besondere Stärke der Sonnenstromfabrik ist die Herstellung von lange haltbaren Glas-Glas-Modulen. Zahlreiche Klimakammertests haben gezeigt, dass die Langzeitmodule aus der Sonnstromfabrik rund 40 simulierte Jahre unversehrt blieben.
Sie halten extremen Temperaturen, starker Luftfeuchtigkeit, Nässe sowie hohen mechanischen Wechselbelastungen durch starken Wind unbeschadet stand.
Ab Q1/ 2023 produziert CS Wismar eine neue Modulgeneration mit monokristallinen Halbzellen. Grundlage bilden dabei Wafer mit einer aktiven Fläche von 182 mm² (7,1 "). Die Halbzellentechnologie ermöglicht eine höhere Flächenleistung als semi-quadratische Zellen.
Die 60-Zellen-Module werden 2023 weiterhin verfügbar sein.
